The "Quick Start" Job Search Workshop
The best way to support your unemployed (and “under employed”) members is to offer a faith based “Quick Start” job search workshop followed by weekly support group meetings.
The “Quick Start” Job Search workshop covers everything a person needs to know to begin an effective job search campaign the next day. The workshop covers the following topics:
Managing the Stress of Job Loss and Job Search
Career Transition Strategies
The Best Job Search Strategies
Developing A Job Search Action Plan
Writing Cover Letters and Resumes
Developing Your Portfolio
Winning the Interview Game
Salary/Compensation Negotiation Strategies
These Quick Start workshops may be led by Career Ministries, or your church volunteer facilitators who have been trained and certified by Career Ministries.
The church sponsor promotes the event, provides the meeting room, seating with tables, break snacks and drinks. Workshops need to be booked at least 6 weeks in advance, and promoted to church membership and the community 4 weeks in advance of the workshop date.
The following seminar/workshops are available through Career Ministries. Call us to schedule an available date. These workshops are typically held at a local church. The sponsoring church gets two scholarship seats after the minimum of six registered and paid participants.

How To Use Your Computer To Find Your Next Job
This is a five hour workshop that teaches everything you need to know about using a computer to expedite your job search.
Topics include:
Online career assessments
How and where to safely post your resume online
Using social and work sites such as; Linked In, My Space, etc.
Creating an online "portfolio"
Creating your own online resume web site
Electronic file formats for resumes
Usng online job search engines
Online interview practice
Where to find compensation package comparisons
How to research a prospective employer
Seminar #3 is
How To "ACE" The Interview!
This four hour or seven hour workshop gives you the real practice you need to ensure that the interview doesn't become the exit door!
Topics include:
Four things every company is looking for in a candidate
Most common interview questions and the best answers
Interview presentation tips
How not to be "hooked" into an unproductive response
It's what you say and how you say it!
Body language and gestures that can make or break you!
How to dress for the interview
What to do before, during and after the interview to win the job!
Interview practice (video taped interviews, critiques and retakes)
Seminar #4 is
Portfolio and Personal Web Site Development
This five hour seminar helps you to distinguish yourself from thousands of people competing for the same job. You will learn how to develop an inexpensive resume web site and portfolio that will get you past the gatekeepers!
Topics include:
Establishing your online presence
Personal web site for resume distribution
Portfolio development (this covers both an electronic version and a hands-on tangible portfolio that may be used to show the things you have accomplished)
How to promote your site and portfolio so that you are noticed by the right people!
